Texas is the second youngest state in the US but ranks near the bottom for youth civic participation. Barriers such as restrictive voter registration laws and attacks on civic education make it difficult for young people to engage in the democratic process.
At Cornerstone, we believe that cultivating youth civic engagement lays the foundation for healthy democratic involvement and governance. We envision a Texas where policy is shaped by the voices and votes of the next generation and a raft of new young leaders drive year-round organizing work that compels their peers to action. We believe in the power and potential of young Texans, and our efforts are anchored in ambition and hope.
